15 Games for you if you like Final Girl
You might have noticed that I’m a huge fan of final girl, the solo board game of horror. The game offers lots of content, but if you’re looking for a change of pace I’ve got you covered with 15 games recommended for Final Girl Fans.
Note: I have a video version of this article on youtube, if streamed content is more your thing than reading:
Today we’ll be mostly looking at Solo board games, with medium complexity. I’ve tried to include a variety of genres in there to keep things fresh.
First let me get a few “obvious” recommendations out of the way: If you like final girl, you might want to grab some of the expansions you don’t have yet, there are ten to choose from at the moment, and they provide a variety of gameplay. There’s also Hostage Negotiator by the same designer, with a very similar gameplay but a different theme.
Now that these low hanging fruits are accounted for, let’s go!
15 – Apex Theropod Deck Building Game: Collected Edition (2020)
Apex Theropod is a deckbuilding game. You play as a species of Dinosaur, and you have to ensure your species survives the brutal environment until you become the Apex predator. The game can accomodate up to 6 players, but everybody recommends it solo. A great game, if you can find a copy for a reasonable price.
You might also like: People who like Apex Theropod also recommend Astro Knights, Too Many Bones, and Veilwraith
14 – Cthulhu: Death May Die (2019)
In number 14, we have Cthuluh, Death May Die. The original aspect of this Lovecraft game is that as investigators, you are this time actively trying to summon the elder Gods, in order to be able to destroy them. The game plays in under 2 hours and has great table presence. It obviously has a horror theme, so it might work well for you if you like Final Girl.
You might also like: More solo games with a dark fantasy theme include Nemesis, Descent: Legends of the Dark, and Mansions of Madness
13 – Set a Watch (2019)
Set a watch is an adventure game where you have to visit and clear out nine locations, by battling monsters. The game plays great solo, has lots of strategy, luck mitigation, beautiful components, plays fast, and is quite underrated.

9 – Horizons of Spirit Island (2022)
Horizons of Spirit Island is a lighter weight version of Spirit Island. You play as gods who have to protect an island from invaders. The game is very tactical in terms of deck building and resource management. Because it is “smaller” in scope than its older brother, it is also easier to bring to the table.

Vengeance Roll and Fight is an action roll and write game. Its solo mode, in which you are battling against a boss and his mobs, has received lots of praises.
