15 Games for you if you Like Arkham Horror TCG
If you’re a fan of the Arkham Horror Card Game, its horror campaigns and strategic card deck construction mechanics, and that for some reason you’ve exhausted all the content that game has to provide (or if you’re looking for a bit of a change), I have a recommendation of 15 other great games for you.

Today we’ll be mostly looking at cooperative or solo games with a Horror or Survival Theme, games with scenarios, and games with medium to heavy complexity.
Let’s get started with this list of recommended games for Arkham Horror Card Game enthusiasts!
15. 7th continent
7th continent is an adventure and sandbox game that plays better solo in my opinion, but that you can enjoy with a friend or two. You have to survive on an island in order to lift a curse. Game sessions can last up to a dozen hours, but saving the game is really easy and can happen at any time.
You might also like: If you like 7th continent, you might like Tainted Grail for its map discovery aspect, Nemo’s war, or Robinson Crusoe for the island survival theme.
14. Under Falling skies
Under Falling skies is an exclusively solo game, in which you have to repel Alien invaders before they destroy earth. It’s a mix of action and brain puzzle involving dice placement, with definitely shorter sessions than the Arkham Card game, for a nice change of pace.
You might also like: If you like Falling skies, Warp’s Edge’s spaceship battles might be for you. you might also like One Deck Dungeon for the Dice placement, or Tiny Epic Galaxies (which is not a cooperative game)
13. Keyforge
In number 13 we have Keyforge, notably the only non cooperative game in this list. Keyforge is a collectible card fighting game for 2 players. It was created by Magic the Gathering designer Richard Garfield.
You might also like: For more two-player battles, you might enjoy Unmatched, Legends of the five rings, or Android Netrunner (if you can put your hands on a copy)
12. Sleeping Gods
Sleeping gods is a game for 1 to 4 players in which you must survive, explore exotic islands, and seek out the totems of the gods so that you can return home.
You might also like: If you like Sleeping god’s nautical theme, you might like Dead Reckoning (which is not cooperative), or Forgotten Waters and Atlantis Rising, which *are*.
11. Descent: Legends of the Dark
Descent: Legends of the Dark is a dungeon crawler which is app-driven so that you don’t need a dungeon master. It is in my opinion a bit less elegant, or more traditional than a game such as Gloomhaven, but still a very solid cooperative campaign game.
You might also like: If you’re looking for deep RPG like board games with significant campaigns, Middara, Oathsworn, or Bloodborne the Board Game might be for you.
10. Spirit Island
In number 10 we have Spirit Island, a cooperative game in which you have to protect your Island against invaders. Spirit Island has great variable player powers and synergies that make it a strategic mix of Area control and card hand management.
You might also like: If you like the area control and relentless, omnipresent ennemy in Spirit Island, the Pandemic Legacy series might be for you. If you like thinking multiple turns ahead, Mechs vs Minions is also a good recommendation.
9. Gloomhaven
I’m sorry that Gloomhaven keeps popping up in all my recommendations, I swear this is not intentional. A dungeon Crawler in disguise, Gloomhaven has very strategic gameplay thanks to the very diverse character abilities and its clever card management system.

8. The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-Earth
Journeys in Middle Earth is a cooperative adventure game with an app that drives the scenario and gives you instruction on when to reveal the map and ennemies. I will be honest, this game did not work for my play group because it felt too easy compared to Arkham, but it might work for you.
You might also like: If Journeys in Middle Earth is something you like, have a look at Destinies, or Mice and Mystics for a more lightweight (and family friendly!) adventure game.
7.Mage Knight
Mage Knight is a staple of solo and cooperative board gaming, so just like Gloomhaven it keeps showing un in recommendations. As a powerful Mage Knight, you fill your deck with spells and actions, explore caves and dungeons, and conquer powerful cities.
You might also like: People who like Mage Knight have also recommended Magic Realm, Dungeon Alliance, and Unicornus Knight
6. Cthulhu Death May Die
In number 6 with have Cthulhu, Death May Die. The original aspect of the Lovecraft game is that as investigators, you are this time actively trying to summon the elder Gods, in order to be able to destroy them. The game plays faster than the Arkham Card Game and has great table presence.

5. Eldritch Horror
Eldritch Horror is a Lovecraftian cooperative game where you have to fight evil around the globe. The game is fairly difficult and game sessions can last several hours. It is very similar to Arkham Horror LCG in its theme obviously, but if you don’t want to bother with the deck building aspect, this might be for you.

4. Mansions of Madness
Unsurprisingly, in this list we’re getting a lot of Lovecraft based games, and this is the case for Mansions of Madness. This is an app driven game of mystery and horror, where you have to collect information and, of course, fight monsters.
You might also like: If you like the investigation aspect of the game, Sherlock Holmes might be for you. This war of mine is also often recommended for fans of Mansions of Madness
3. Marvel champions
In Number 3 we have Marvel champions, another cooperative card game by Fantasy Flight, in which you have to fight a villain as Marvel super Heroes The gameplay is very thematic and fun. And yeah, I’m sure you know where we’re headed in the top 2. Marvel Champions is slightly easier than Arkhma Horror, and has a more lighthearted theme, so depending on your mood this might be the right choice for you.
You might also like: For more super hero cooperative games, give a try try to Marvel United and Marvel Legendary. For another great boss battler, Aeon’s End might be for you.
2. Arkham Horror
In number two, very unsurprisingly, we have arkham Horror itself. This game has the same theme as the card game but plays very differently. In my opinion it is closer to Eldritch horror than it is to Arkham Horror the Card game. And, although it is at the number 2 spot here, if I had to choose one, I would pick Edlritch Horror over Arkham Horror. Just my personal preference, but if you really like the setting of the town of Arkham, obviously thins one is for you.

1. The Lord of the Rings – LCG
Well I’m guessing this is a surprise to nobody, but Lord of the Rings, the card game, is the number one recommendation for you if you like Arkham Horror LCG. The gameplay mechanics and the theme are of course vastly different, and the deck building aspect is also here but not quite like what you do in Arkham. But at the end of the day, these two games end up scratching the same itch of strategic card gameplay. My play group keeps switching between these two games depending on our mood, so unless you really, really hate the Lord of the Rings, you can’t go wrong with the card game.
